ICE Detains TikTok Star Khaby Lame and Orders Him to Leave the U.S.

U.S. immigration officials detained TikTok star Khaby Lame last week, claiming he overstayed his visa. Lame, known for his comedic videos and with 162.2 million followers, reportedly entered the U.S. on April 30 and was later detained at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport. He was granted “voluntary departure” following the detention, although he has made no comments regarding the situation and has continued posting on social media, with his latest content appearing from Brazil.

Lame’s management, Sharks Celebrities Mgmt., disputed the claims of his detainment, suggesting that the ICE report is “fake news” and stating he didn’t visit the U.S. recently, highlighting discrepancies about his name. While it’s unclear when he was last in the U.S., he was present at the Met Gala in May.

The incident reflects ongoing concerns related to U.S. immigration policies, particularly under the Trump administration, which has intensified its scrutiny of travelers. Social media users have expressed anxiety over interactions with immigration officials, and other high-profile figures, such as Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, have experienced similar detentions.

Piker was questioned at O’Hare Airport after a trip to France, facing inquiries about his political views, although officials later dismissed claims that his beliefs triggered the scrutiny. In light of these developments, there has been a rise in immigration raids across the U.S., prompting widespread protests, particularly in Los Angeles, against the administration’s aggressive enforcement practices.
