Bay Area Air District Issues Air Quality Advisory Amid Wildfire Smoke Concerns
The Bay Area Air District issued an air quality advisory on Sunday morning, warning residents about potential wildfire smoke drifting from fires in Canada and Alaska. According to the district, this smoke could temporarily affect air quality levels across the Bay Area.
However, by the afternoon, air quality ratings improved, with the majority of the region reported as “good.” As of Sunday evening, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) highlighted only a few localized areas experiencing moderate air quality impacts. Regions affected include parts of coastal Oakland, San Leandro, San Francisco, Berkeley, and San Pablo.
The air district cautioned that conditions can change unexpectedly, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of smoke presence at ground level. Residents are advised to remain alert and monitor the situation as it develops.
